readahead takes very long during boot

Bug Description

On boot, I see the message "Reading files needed to boot...", then it takes about 3 minutes before the boot process continues.

(Running edgy amd64)

Please install the bootchart package, and attach the file generated in /var/log/bootchart

Also attach the files from /etc/readahead

Here is my bootchart. readahead seems to stall about 100 seconds.

Actually, this is a usplash problem -- you'll note it's using 100% CPU on the chart, causing nothing else to get a look in.

You have an NVIDIA graphics card on and AMD64, yes?

This should be fixed in the latest usplash uploads
