Bug Description
1) Installed live-cd dapper on my dell inspiron 8200. Nvidia Geforce 2.
2) The boot up logo looks fine (I.e., the gold-colored ubuntu logo that shows up while the booting messages scroll past.)
3) When I shut down, the logo is psychadelic--as if the color mappings are screwed up. I hadn't installed the fancy nvidia drivers yet, I was still working from the default set.
Update : This bug seems to appear only when people use vga= with grub

I'm having the same problem on a laptop computer wit the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 chipset. The colors looks fine on startup, but inverted on shutdown.
The problem still exists in Edgy.
