Bug Description

Binary package hint: usplash

Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex amd64, Compiz Fusion,
Linux ***** 2.6.27-11-generic #1 SMP Thu Jan 29 19:28:32 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
usplash: Installed: 0.5.25

running on Dell Latitude E6400, nvidia NVS160M with proprietary driver, 1280x800 WLED display.

External VGA monitor (1280x1024) connected and xorg configured to TwinView the display in "clone" mode (via the nvidia settings GUI tool)
When the gnome login screen appears, switch the displays by Fn+F8 key (which has an icon that tells that this is for switching displays). At that moment the laptop's display is turned off and the external display is the only one displaying the login screen.
Now login with user name and password.
After a while the apport program reports the crash in usplash.

No crash happens if the display is not switched while in the login screen, but later, after the workspace is initialized.
