Bug Description
I have a DELL 1905FP monitor, with DVI and VGA inputs, and an ATI X600 PCIE
video card with also both connectors.
When booting Breezy, if only the DVI input is selected in the monitor then the
boot splash screen does not appear and the monitor says "cannot display this
video mode" and it remains black until X shows up. If the VGA input is selected,
everything works fine. To solve the problem in DVI mode (which I tend to prefer)
I had to remove the "splash" kernel option in GRUB (and then I have standard
text-mode screen).
Note that the same problem exists with the live CD, both in x86 and amd64 versions.

Had no problems showing the splash screen while loading system on an ATI Rage 9200 DVI (MacMini). But the problems appeared on the gdm login screen: the screen is compressed to half the width, i.e. 840x1050x60Hz instead of 1680x1050x60Hz.
Plugging the DVI to analog converter solves the issue, but I'd like to use DVI... :(
I'm using latest Dapper updates.
