Bug Description

Hi there!

The problem I have appears when no monitor cable is attached by my Alix.1B from www.pcengines.ch

The problem seems to be a AMD VGA BIOS problem becaus FS and GS registers are not restored when no monitor is present. But there must be a solution for this problem e.q. push fs or gs when compiling. But I don't know how to make these instructions, so maybe someone of you can give me a solution for this!

So a more detailed description of the bug.

I use an ALIX.1C from www.pcengines.ch

The problem I have is, that the boot hangs up after the loading GRUB screen! This problem appears only when no VGA cable is attached. I can workaround this bug when I ground the 12th PIN, but this is not a all time solution.
So I contacted the manufacturer and he told me that the solution is to put a PUSH FS to the int 10h call. But I don't know how to do that.

I am sure that there is a simpler solution for this bug, e.q. voyage linux us also Debian-based and doesn't have this bug!

I hope this is enough information now.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in 'usplash'.

In order to determine if this issue is usplash related, would you boot your computer with usplash disabled and then shutdown to see if you can reproduce the issue? To disable usplash for a single boot, you can follow these steps :

1.Press Esc during Grub boot delay to access the boot menu.
2.Select your actual Ubuntu boot line and press "e" to edit it.
3.Select the "kernel" line and press "e" to edit it.
4.At the end of the line, remove "splash" and "quiet" and press "enter".
5.Type "b" to boot the custom boot line.
