Bug Description
recent usplash updates have messed the trasition from the loading sequence of
usplash to gdm & now there's a gap between in which
the screen shows grub's info about the loaded kernel.
I'll try to explain in better: On my laptop grub boots the default kernel image,
some info about that kernel image is displayed. The usplash comes in. Normally
when usplash finishes, gdm will appear, doing a smooth transition from usplash
art to gdm. Now, there's a gap between those in which the screen shows the
information about the loaded kernel. This info is the same that appears on the
virtual console #1 (ctrl+alt+f1)

The last line which usplash shows is the:
starting hardware abstraction layer
This happens also in my amd64 box
