Bug Description

recent usplash updates have messed the trasition from the loading sequence of
usplash to gdm & now there's a gap between in which
the screen shows grub's info about the loaded kernel.

I'll try to explain in better: On my laptop grub boots the default kernel image,
some info about that kernel image is displayed. The usplash comes in. Normally
when usplash finishes, gdm will appear, doing a smooth transition from usplash
art to gdm. Now, there's a gap between those in which the screen shows the
information about the loaded kernel. This info is the same that appears on the
virtual console #1 (ctrl+alt+f1)

The last line which usplash shows is the:
starting hardware abstraction layer

This happens also in my amd64 box

This is due to the console font being set. Unfortunately the font can't be set
without some visible change on the screen.

Thanks for your bugreport.

To set the console-fonts a short switch is needed. We are working on ways to try
to miminize the visible impact of this though. What we are trying to to is to
run usplash on vt8 again and switch to vt1 for the console-font setup. vt1
should be empty then and there shouldn't be aynthing visible between the
switching (expect a black screen for a short amount of time). If that will work
as expected is not clear yet though.

With the upload of usplash_0.1-17 there shouldn't be anything visible on the
console aynmore.

Please reopen if that upload dosn't fixed the problem for you.

I don't know if this updates fixes the bug since
I'm having this other bug:
http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16676

which has broken my usplash.
