Bug Description

Binary package hint: usplash

I have a Dell Optiplex GX150 with an onboard intel 82815 graphics card. Both the graphics card and my monitor support 1024x768 however usplash only displays in 800x600. If I switch to a different tty, I get the following errors at the top of the terminal:

usplash: Setting mode 1024x768 failed
usplash: Using mode 800x600

At first glance it appears the same as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usplash/+bug/36047 however in this case the splash doesn't appear stretched, just grainy, and it defaults down to 800x600 not 640x480.

Your video BIOS refuses to allow us to set 1024x768, for some reason. There's nothing we can do about that.
