Bug Description

When I enable bootsplash, boot more than doubles.
Computer : Intel Core 2 Duo, G965 Chipset on Dell XPS 200

usplash spending a lot of CPU

the time taken for booting with splash is 03.20 minutes
without splash it takes just 00.40 minutes
