New users must change password despite other configuration

I just installed Kubuntu 8.04.1. After installation I added another user. Under the "Password & Security" tab I set a password. I left the "Valid until" setting at "Always".
When I tried logging in with the new user, kdm always tells me that I have to change my password immediately. This is not what I wanted and not what I specified. I can reproduce the bug always.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. I just tested with Karmic Alpha 6 and the bug is still always reproducible.

This bug is anything but Low! Managing user account is one of the most important settings in every OS...
