Bug Description
Binary package hint: usb-creator
Like the title says, Unable to create other than *buntu-*.iso to usb.
When trying to load , ex. zenwalk-5.2.iso /zenwalk-
"This is not a desktop install CD and thus cannot be used by this application."
Thought it might be issue in name, so tried changing the name, but no avail
Shouldn't default application in Ubuntu be able to create other than just *buntu images?
Tried several other distros, using this tool, and all of them failed with error above.
Edit// using unetbootin I'm able to do so.
Edit// I'm aware that "Description: Ubuntu USB desktop image creator
This is a simple utility designed to make bootable USB desktop images from
Ubuntu CDs."
But restricting usage to only *buntu images, in this wonderful app, IMO contradicts bug #1
If that was the correct word for it :)
There's no way to predict how other iso's are set up. Even though most are similar, there can still be small differences. I don't believe it's just a matter of copying the iso and some boot code to the usb disk, usb-creator is actually extracting specific files from the iso. It would need to know the structure of each particular OS in order to support it. Right now, it doesn't even support the server edition of Ubuntu, let alone a completely separate distribution. I do not think this request would be sufficiently useful, especially since most other distributions already provide their own way to accomplish the same task.
