Bug Description

Using intrepid.

When upgrading via aptitude I get this error:

Setting up libc6 (2.8~20080505-0ubuntu7) ...
init:io.c:724: Assertion failed in nih_io_message_send: message != NULL
Aborted (core dumped)

This does not stop the upgrade, and the package installs successfully.

(Just to clarify: the glibc postinst calls "init u", which had been silently ignored by upstart until the above bug was fixed. The error message is just showing that init respawned itself, and telinit got scared with no harm done.)

It looks like bug 273761 may be how this bug manifests on i386, is it possible to get this fixed before the beta? Thanks!
