init memory leak (550MB in two weeks)

On a system that has run for two weeks, init is now using 550MB of resident memory.

Something like this appears to be happening to me on 14.04, I've tried bumping the kernel to 3.16, and various other things, but I'm still seeing this kind of thing:-

Correction, please ignore #3 above this a desktop init owned by lightdm.. rather than "init".
