(This is a desktop system so it doesn't have batteries, lids etc.)

Also note that I am running upstart and not systemd, because systemd outsmarts itself trying to mount filesystems. Martin Pitt changed the bug title to something incorrect which I can't fix - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1447879
