Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Icon update-manager not transparent. This is visible when the panel it self is made transparent.

Found this bug:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-notifier/+bug/13044

Appears to solved in Dapper (can confirm this because it's no problem in Edgy).
I raise this bug again because it seems to be a new problem (after it was fixed).

Thanks for your bugreport.

It is transparent here for me. Does it maybe depend if it was hidden and re-appred or something like this?

Thanks,
 Michael

I'm running Feisty in VirtualBox. I recall that I had saved the session while there were still updates pending. After starting the session again, I noticed the ltransparancy problem.
Maybe these two are connected somehow (hiding and reappering). I'll try to reproduce the situation I described and then I get be back to you, just have to wait for new updates on Feisty.

This appears to still be a problem in Edgy with coloured panels. See attached screenshot.

Unfortunately, I am *not* able to reproduce this by taking the following steps:
- apt-get update (and wait for updates)
- save the VirtualBox session
- reopen the VirtualBox session

Apparently, this is not the correct way to reproduce the bug but others (Stuart Langridge) confirm this on Edgy too.

Stuart, can you reproduce this behaviour with the exact steps?

It's reproduceable for me. However, it's not the icon that's not transparent (the icon is, at /usr/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/apps/updates-notifier.png); it's the widget that it's on. Note also that the problem isn't update-manager, it's update-notifier, so we're attached to the wrong package here.

I tried to change the affected package from update-manager to update-notifier, but something went wrong: packages "update-manager (Baltix)" and "update-notifier (Baltix)" are not supposed to be there.

Since there's no way to delete them (at least I don't see it), only adding is possible, they stay there. Can somebody fix this?

On topic: I leave the bug reproduction to you, Stuart, since I cannot reproduce this my self.

I rejected the baltix tasks and keep the ubuntu one open (marking it as confirmed).
