Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-notifier

On my notebook, thinkpad x60s, update-notifier causes 0.5 wakeups as reported by powertop.
This is really unnecessary for a program that should check and report if there are updates no more than once and hour of even day.

The problem with is the code:

   g_timeout_add (TIMEOUT_FAM, (GSourceFunc)file_monitor_periodic_check, un);
that checks every 5s changes.

Changed in update-notifier (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
importance: Undecided → Low
