No way to turn notification back on

There is no way to turn notifications of updates back on after you disable them (by right-clicking notifier and saying "Show Updates").

Thank you for your bug report. I'm not quite sure what you mean. Could you give me some detailed steps to reproduce the bug? Also, what version of Ubuntu are you using?

Hi Andy,

I am using Dapper updated as of last night. If there are updates, the update icon + bubble shows up in the notification area. Sometimes, this is undesirable (for example, if you are playing a full-screen game). So a user might right-click the update icon, and ask the notifier not to notify me of updates (I believe there is some setting to say "Don't show this icon/Don't notify me"). In this use case, its just temporary but there is no easy way to have the update-notifier start showing updates again in the system tray.

Anyway, to re-enable the icon, one has to go into gconf-editor and modify the apps/update-notifier keys.

A new version of update-notifier has been uploaded recently. Can you update and see if the problem still persists?

I've tried it myself but unticking the "Show notifications" menu item seems to just stop it from showing the bubble when new updates are available - the clickable orange button still shows up in the notification area when there are updates, only no bubble pops up.

I tried to both check/uncheck it and it seems to work as expected (unchecked wont show a bubble, check will show it). But the bubble will only show after the next restart of the update-notifier (or if it changes from invisible to visble).
