Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-notifier

Ubuntu version: 9.04 Jaunty Alpha 3 (upgraded from intrepid)
Update-notifier package version: 0.75.6

After upgrading to 9.04 Jaunty Alpha from Intrepid, and having already rebooted, then having done more updates only a few minutes later, the update-notifier shows that the machine needs to be rebooted.
Clicking the blue circular arrows brings up the dialog box, and clicking "restart now" does nothing. The dialog goes away but the machine does not restart, even if left for several minutes.
However, going to System -> Shutdown -> Restart, works fine and reboots straight away.
I've had this issue now several times as I've had to do several updates that require a reboot.

If I can do anything else to help, let me know. Thanks.
