Bug Description
It's currently not possible to set if the update-notifier is currently starting to display it's window or not.
It's easy to reproduce by clicking on the icon and waiting for the first window to appear. If it's otherside of the cache it's likely to take a second or two, even on pretty decent hardware.
This is in breezy.

Thanks for your bugreport and sorry for the long reply.
It turned out that the real problem is the missing startup notification support in gksu. I added that in a recent upload in dapper and it should be available soon.
Cheers,
Michael
