update-notifier does not know about synaptic pins

Bug #13715 reported by Hidde Brugmans on 2005-03-09
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
update-notifier (Ubuntu)
Michael Vogt

Bug Description

I've forced the old version of the ubuntu artwork, since the new one is totally
unusable atm.
however, now I always see the update-notifier icon in the notification area, and
update-manager shows the single update

it's a bit unpolished this way.
either it should ignore forced packages, or ask about it and then ignore them.

ignore as in not count it as update / not show the icon.

in the update-manager it should be deselected by default or stand out in some
way, showing the current and new version.

Thanks for your bugreport.

This was reported before. It's fixed locally but it's not yet uploaded because
of the preview freeze. If you are interessted, you can test it at:

(both debs will be needed).

This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 13408.

Looks like I was a bit too quick. Forced versions will not be remembered. You
need to:
a) force the version
b) lock it

update-notifier will still not honor it, I'll reopen it therefore.

Thanks for reporting this problem.

update-notifier 0.38.8 knows about synaptic pins now as well. Please reopen if
you still have problems.
