Bug Description
Clean oneiric system.
From command linetype: update-manager
Resulted in flood of messages that indicated something is going wrong:

Update worked ok, but seeing all these messages is a bit worrying.
There were no log files in /var/log/

I saw this warning when running update-manager in precise:
Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_ get_pointer: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed
However the same message appears if I run eog or evince in a terminal so it seems like a dekstop issue.
