NO info showing on "CHANGES" tab in update manager

Bug Description

I have noticed that on the last several batches of updates that have been available for download and installation on my dapper 6.06.1 systems that when I look at the detailed information regarding the various listed updates that there is NO info shown/displayed on the CHANGES tab for any of the available updates. There IS info shown/displayed on the DESCRIPTION tab for these same updates.

This all seemed to have started 3 or 4 update batches ago when there was some other problem with one of the updates. One of those that suggested the running of apt-get dist-upgrage. Which I did as advised at the time.

I have noticed that I CAN see info on the CHANGES tab for the updates that are available for my Feisty machine.

Can you tell me if the fact that NO info is being shown on the tab is an indication of a problem in the Dapper O/S or is the info for this tab no longer being placed in the updates ?

I have inquired about this issue on the forums but after several days I have received zero responses. Either no one else is having this problem, they don't know about it, or they don't care about it.

If this is NOT by design can you tell me how to fix without completely reinstalling all 3 of these machines ?

Thanks.

You don't need to reinstall your machine because of every small error.

In the meantime you could install apt-listchanges. Run dpkg-reconfigure apt-listchanges afterwards and choose to show changelog entires before installing the packages.

Cheers,

Sebastian

Should the last parameters be: "changelogs" or should it be "news" - see
below.

Thanks.

[apt]
frontend=pager
email_address=root
confirm=0
save_seen=/var/lib/apt/listchanges.db
which=changelogs

I have apt-listchanges installed in Synaptic.

Is "dpkg-reconfigure apt-listchanges" one command or two ?

And when running it, what is it that I am supposed to change ?

I attempted this and I came out with a listchanges.conf file that looks
like this BUT I still do not see the changes listed on the changes tab.

[apt]
frontend=pager
email_address=root
confirm=0
save_seen=/var/lib/apt/listchanges.db
which=changelogs

Thanks.
