Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Given the recent massive update over the last day or two due to amd64 toolchain updates, which I don't believe I need (model name : AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2500+) it seems that it would be nice to be able to deselect a package for update until it's version changes again.

So I open update-manager and see libquicktime0:
Version 2:0.9.7-1ubuntu2:

  * Rebuild for changes in the amd64 toolchain.
  * Set Ubuntu maintainer address.

I would like to be able to de-select this package for upgrade and have update-manager remember that state until the version > 2:0.9.7-1ubuntu2. That way I don't have to always deselect forty-eleven packages until something more significant has been updated/upgraded.

Even better, hide the updates in the list until the version has changed.

WORKAROUND: Execute the following in a terminal:
sudo apt-mark hold PACKAGE
