Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Moving from 10.10 to 11.04:

"Could not calculate the upgrade

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
The package 'update-manager-kde' is marked for removal but it is in the removal blacklist.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report."

These files were in /var/log/dist-upgrade/

20110505-1444 apt-clone_system_state.tar.gz main.log
20110505-2155 apt.log system_state.tar.gz
20110505-2203 lspci.txt term.log

The first three are directories. If I didn't attach the right file, please let me know.

There is a very similar bug report, but it's 3 years old and fixed, so I think this bug is new.

The above are sub-directories of /var/log/dist-upgrade. When I tried to upload the files in 20110505-144 I kept getting an error message from Launchpad saying these files were empty and could not be uploaded. I decided not to try uploading the files in the other sub-folders. If they are needed, I can open them, then paste their contents in the comments section. Let me know. Thanks!

Thanks for the logs.

The problem is caused by akonadi-server which requires mysql 5.1 to upgrade and you have mysql 5.0 from karmic installed.
To upgrade, you can either upgrade mysql to 5.1 which is the version available since Lucid or remove it and reinstall after the upgrade, or depending on your usage of your system remove akonadi-server (but it is not sure that it will fix the problem if mysql 5.1 is required by another package)

I'm marking this bug as triage/Medium do handle this situation in update-manager
