Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Many upgrade failures reported during upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 are caused by packages installed from PPAs.
A very common PPA is xorg-edgers.

Update manager should at least manage this specific case and determine if a package from xorg-edgers is blocking the upgrade, or better, it should report to the user if a non-official package from any PPA and which package is blocking the upgrade.

Marking triaged as I have also seen this many times and can confirm. Since this can effect the users overall experience with the system upgrade process, I am going to give it a 'Low' status over 'Wishlist'. Also, I have seen this is a very prominent problem in the community when performing an upgrade to a newer version of ubuntu.

Changed in update-manager (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
