Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

apport brought me here with the same error: update-manager crashed when I tried to use it to update a broken packaging system. One of the packages has a broken Depends section.

In my case the python-uno package was broken after running the upgrade.

This bug tracks the broken package:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/libreoffice/+bug/969707

Here is the error:

$ sudo apt-get check
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 python-uno : Depends: libreoffice-core (= 1:3.4.4-0ubuntu1) but 1:3.5.1-1ubuntu4 is installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.

And here is the policy for the broken packages:

$ apt-cache policy python-uno
python-uno:
  Installed: 1:3.4.4-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:3.5.1-1ubuntu4
  Version table:
