Can't upgrade from development version of EdgyEft Can't install 'ubuntu-desktop'

Bug Description

to reproduce, use this command:
  sudo update-manager -c -d --dist-upgrade

After some checks, following alert appeared:
  Can't install 'ubuntu-desktop'

Thanks for your bugreport.

Can you please tell me what version of libgl1-mesa-dri you have installed? It sounds like you run a unofficial package there. Remvoing that should fix the issue (the upgrader will pick it up on the next run again and install the "official" edgy version).

Thank you for reply.

I'm using version 6.5.1+cvs20060824 of libgl1-mesa-dri.
I believe this version was installed as a dependency to compiz

I removed compiz, and upgrade passed successfully

I had the same issue. We might want to think about creating a graceful failure for users that have installed XGL and Compiz from the Ubuntu wiki.

@Jeff Rasmussen: Does "the same issue" mean that you didn't had a nvidia driver after the update? If so, could you please attach your files from /var/log/dist-upgrade (if you haven't already)?
