Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
Hi,
I just upgraded a 10.04 system to 10.10.
The upgrade process succeeded in common, just two packages (gallery2 and virtualbox) failed due to local configurations and a missing link. Nothing remarkable.
However, after performing the upgrade (and getting error messages from these two packages that could easily be fixed manually) update-manager came to the conclusion that the upgrade failed (which is untrue, since everything else worked properly), and leaves the system in a state of unfinished upgrade, i.e. uncleaned. The removal of unsupported or outdated packages, removal of old kernels etc. is not performed.
I currently do not see how to complete the upgrade process. Leaving a system in such a state is not exactly nice. It should always be possible to restart update-manager to continue with the process after fixing problems like those with the mentioned two packages manually.
regards
