Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

I have successfully run Ubuntu distribution 8.04 LTS for some time. Today I attempted to upgrade to distribution 10.4 LTS.
The first try took about two hours, then failed because of something about a dependency cycle in Open Office. A second
try failed very quickly; same failure message. What is the trouble? Is it me or the 'system'? Is there a path around the problem or am I stuck in 8.04 forever?

Thank you for the information about this known bug. I looked at
the record for bug 562948. I partially understand the problem, but
I do not feel competent to undertake the suggested workaround.
My decision is to continue with 8.04 LTS until some later date
when the bug is entirely resolved. At worst, someday I will request
a fresh installation disk and start over from the beginning.
