package skype-common blocks upgrade to Lucid, error message not clear about cause

Das Paket »skype-common« ist zum Löschen vorgesehen, wurde aber durch das System gesperrt.

 This can be caused by:
 * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
 * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

Falls nichts davon zutrifft, melden Sie dies bitte als Fehler im Paket »update-manager« und fügen Sie die Dateien aus dem Verzeichnis /var/log/dist-upgrade/ Ihrem Fehlerbericht hinzu.

I had the same when skype is installed from the medibuntu archives. "Resolution" is to uninstall the package skype-common to let the upgrade proceed. Let's see if am able to install it again later on...

Just to report that uninstalling skype-common package manually before doing the upgrade works. Afterwards you can install skype directly, I think it got added to some of the repositories and thus having it installed via medibuntu broke the upgrade.

If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report.
