Bug Description
I started upgrading from Karmic to Lucid using:
sudo update-manager -c -d
This alerted me to the availability of the Lucid beta. But after the first day of download attempts (it usually takes a while, nothing to worry about) this suddenly no longer showed the option to upgrade to Lucid. I'm guessing this is caused by the update-manager upgrade that happened at the beginning of the process.
When I left out the "sudo" things went back to normal and I got the option to install the Lucid beta again.
