Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
Using Lucid on MacBook Pro 1,1, update-manager 1:0.133.8
I open update-manager and press "Check". After entering the administrator password, the download window appears but freezes. It does not download and I have to force quit the application. I cannot restart update-manager or synaptic (I get an alert saying another synaptic is running). This happens 90% of the time. If it works once, it will continue working until I reboot.
The only work-around I have found is to reboot and start synaptic. It will freeze as well immediately after I enter the administrator password. I then force quit synaptic and log out using CRTL-ALT-DEL. I then log in and try to start synaptic. Nothing will happen. I then try to start synaptic again and it will work perfectly as long as the computer remains on. Even update-manager will work after that.
I had the same issue with Karmic (no issues with Gutsy through Jaunty).
