Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Clicked upgrade from 9.10 Karmic to 10.04 Lucid Beta1 left for some time and returned to see empty desktop environment. Rebooted machine and booted direct to command line. Typed gnome-session into terminal and was told no command found.
sudo apt-get install gnome gave me broken dependencies stated try apt-get -f install ran this command and roughly 20 minutes of package changes occurred. Rebooted machine and was met with very strange behavior, login screen was not karmics or lucids duplicate volume controls on panel missing of little mail icon on panel ect. Opened update manager again and found 1142 updates available, clicked install and they had already been downloaded and all installed smoothly. Rebooted again and am now running Lucid beta. Icons for empathy/evolution as well as volume control are still missing otherwise have used computer for a full day without finding any other issues.
