Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

Wait, i just talked with some guys at the IRC in #ubuntu-beginners-team and they pointed me that update testing begins in 5 days.. so the problem may be fixed automatically some day on.

As far as i can tell the steps were this

1) sudo update-manager -d
2) agree to all options and start fetching packages for ubuntu lucid
3) after it feched all packages... at the moment begins the dpkg task and the terminal is shown the process is stopped.
4) the error message is in the screenshot, it's related to some python script... but that is over me anyway.

I'm sorry i can not be more helpfull. I restarted the machine and started de dist upgrade again and the same happened.

As as further comment i have to say that after i accepted that there is no dist upgrade i can do, i manually edited and changed back sources.list and changed "lucid" to "karmic" ... because now in "sudo update-manager" regular session lucid packages appears as regular updates and i'm afraid this is not good...

if there is any command output i can paste here to help, like dmesg or something like that, tell me, i just want to help.

regards,
