Bug Description

Binary package hint: apt

Hi,

Just upgraded from Intrepid to Jaunty.

System -> Administration -> Software Sources, tab Third-Party Software: all entries still point to the Intrepid version.

---

All entries point to Intrepid if they are not enabled (commented out) in sources.list. Those that are enabled get updated from Intrepid to Jaunty.

affects: apt (Ubuntu) → update-manager (Ubuntu)

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I was unable to recreate this when upgrading from Intrepid to Jaunty using a virtual machine as the partner archive was correctly updated to point to Jaunty. Did you upgrade using update-manager or another way? If it was via update-manager could you please include the log files from '/var/log/dist-upgrade/'? Thanks in advance.

I used Update Manager.
I attached the dist-upgrade logs.

Did you actually have the partner repository checked? I'm guessing that you don't.

Looking at my virtual machine it seems that only enabled respositories are updated from intrepid to jaunty and those that are commented out are not.

This seems like a bug to me as it will prevent people from being able to enable the partner repository after performing a distribution upgrade.

Indeed I didn't have the partner repository checked, actually I had none of the Third-Party Software Sources checked.

After fiddling around with Software Sources I found out that on the Updates TAB - Important Security Updates (jaunty security) once deselected cannot be selected again!
"deb http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ jaunty-security main restricted universe multiverse" gets written every time in sources.list file but the small checkbox never gets activated again!
Also jaunty Security is shown in Third Party TAB (can be deleted only from there!)

I'm using Jaunty Final up to date on a PS3 System. I felt that this is somehow related to the initial bug (after some testing) so I didn't opened a new bug report... If it's needed I'll open a new bug.
