Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

I'm trying to do a dis-upgrade by using the command bellow.

kdesu "adept_manager --dist-upgrade-devel"

It goes thru the whole process to the point of installing the files it's downloaded and then I get the error.
update-manager failed to install/upgrade

I've restarted the computer and tried again. No luck. Same error.

Here is the error:

2009-02-12 12:15:40,678 ERROR SystemError from cache.commit(): E:Internal Error, Could not perform immediate configuration (2) on libc6

Something went wrong in the ordering code. This should probably be caught much earlier :/

At least the error message and the recovery code are improved now. As for the real cause of the issue, I assume you long since fixed it (either by reinstalling or shuffling packages around) ?

Hi Michael,

Yes, I finally did a clean reinstall of Kubuntu and have been up and working since. It would have just been easier to do an upgrade. I thought I would at least report the problem in an attempt to help get you techs the information.

Thanks for all your hard work!
Marc

I close the update-manager taks on this, there is a similar one for apt open (which is the root of the problem). But update-manager will cleanly recover now from the issue.
