Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

When updating from Kubuntu Hardy (with kde3) to Intrepid (after just before sucessfully updating from Gutsy to Hardy) the update manager crashes quite at the beginning of configuring the updates.
I'm willing to try to reproduce it, if that is possible without a clean install, but at the moment I'm still trying to get the system working again (multiple "sudo apt-get upgrade"s halting in between and followed by "sudo dpkg --configure -a"s have left me with a working but frequently crashing kde4).
