Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

I have a weird problem with Update Manager where a package (metatalk) always appears to be grayed out with half of the description cut off.

Other updates all work fun but this particular update has been sitting in the update manager list filed under "Other Updates" but grayed out for a couple weeks now. The main reason I'm filing this as a bug is that the description of the update is cut off half way through and only the upper half of it appears visible.

I'm using 8.10 and the update-manager version is 1:0.93.94.

Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report.

Regarding your bug with netatalk, could you please provide the output of the command:
sudo apt-get install netatalk

Thanks.

Changed in update-manager:
status: New → Incomplete

It is already installed and would be upgraded. Should I proceed with the upgrade?

The package appears greyed out because it lacks some dependencies. apt-get will show you which packages need to be upgraded or to be removed with netatalk.
Depending on the output you can choose to upgrade or not. If apt-get doesn't show anything special then update-manager should show the package as upgradeable.
I hope this helps. If in doubt then provide the output of apt-get before answering yes to the upgrade.
