Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

Upgrade from Hardy to Intrepid failed with above message

Thanks for your bugreport.

Could you please attach the logs in /var/log/dist-upgrade/* ? After you have done that, please remove the source archive.canonical.com that has the "commercial" component and try the upgrade again and see if that helps.

Changed in update-manager:
status: New → Incomplete

Removing the canonical.com archive solved the problem. I'm afraid
that these files probably result from my (mostly) successful second
attempt to upgrade after removing canonical.

I had a similar problem which was remedied by removing "http://archive.ubuntu.com intrepid main universe" from my sources list. Is anyone aware of whether this will have any adverse affects to future updates and/or functionality of my operating system?
