Bug Description

I was unable (on thursday, october 2) to upgrade from ubunto 8.04 to
Intrepid beta (8.10) on a HP Pavillion notebook dv6921a Notebook with AMD Turion64x2, but installing 32 bit os. At the very end of the upgrade process, the update manager breaks with message: Unable to update update manager, and when trying to boot, that is impossible, with error message: No devices found. Neither was it possible to boot from liveCD.

Below is the output of lspci:

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I'm no clearly exactly what the situation is. Are you unable to boot your system and from the Live CD? If so how did you obtain the output of 'lspci'? Thanks in advance.

Hola!

Yes. I made a bootable pendrive from the liveCD image (with unetbootin), and
tried to boot from that. It gave the same error messages.

The lspci output was made after reinstalling 8.04
That shouldń change anything! i hope.

I have not had any installation problems with karmic (neither 9.04 or 9.10)
on the exact same computer.
