During that period it is likely that the KPPP daemon will die at some point. The installer offers no option to resume the install, but insists on aborting instead. What is so time critical that it cannot wait? Perhaps this is a feature request, not a bug report, but whatever it is called, this is a serious problem with the installation software from my perspective. Phone modem users are not sub humans. Thanks for your time. --===============2947421500897613630== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Author: =?utf-8?q?Martin-=C3=89ric_Racine_=28q-funk=29?= Date: Sun, 22 Jun 2008 14:24:55 -0000 Message-Id: <20080622142455.4321.42811.malone@potassium.ubuntu.com> Which application do you use to perform this upgrade? --===============2947421500897613630== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Author: David J Bush (twixt) Date: Sun, 22 Jun 2008 15:26:34 -0000 Message-Id: <200806221126.34799.twixt@cstone.net> On Sunday 22 June 2008 10:24:55 am Martin-=C3=89ric Racine wrote: > Which application do you use to perform this upgrade? I will add these details to the bug report page. My point is that there should be a "resume" button available to click after the connection is restored. --===============2947421500897613630== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Author: Michael Vogt (mvo) Date: Tue, 24 Jun 2008 16:35:17 -0000 Message-Id: <20080624163517.2697.41943.malone@gangotri.canonical.com> Thanks for your bugreport. This is indeed a missing feature, however it should not loose any downloaded data. That means, even if the upgrade aborted, when you run it next time, it should pick up from the point were it got disconnected. --===============2947421500897613630== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Author: David J Bush (twixt) Date: Sun, 13 Jul 2008 15:51:35 -0000 Message-Id: <20080713155136.455.41473.malone@gangotri.canonical.com> Thanks for the info. When I reconnect it takes about 30 to 35 minutes of "setting channels" before it resumes where it left off downloading files. At the very least, this should be added to the aforementioned help page, that "the upgrade aborts now" does not mean all the downloaded files are lost. It's simple stuff like this that makes a huge difference to a newbie. --===============2947421500897613630== Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Author: Michael Vogt (mvo) Date: Tue, 05 Aug 2008 17:29:13 -0000 Message-Id: <20080805172913.8302.20594.malone@gandwana.canonical.com> Thanks, that does indeed make sense.
