upgrade download and install failed

Bug #236754 reported by c on 2008-06-02
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
update-manager (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Pity the n00b, please. Since the Update Manager would hang, I was updating via the terminal. Then accidentally closed the terminal window. Managed 'dpkg --configure -a' okay, but then got this:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages have been kept back:
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.

Haven't figured out how to finish. The GUI update manager still hangs. The 'get-apts update' and 'upgrade' still gives the above result.

Thanks for your bugreport.

If the gui update-manager hangs, could you please open a terminal and run:
$ gksu id

and let me know what that outputs and/or if that hangs as well?

This might be a problem with gksu (see #237325)
