Bug Description
Summary: The libnotify icon that appears when there are "Important Security Updates" appears to indicate a state of caution / problem as opposed to important alert. This may be a byproduct of:
* Inconsistency with standard update icon. This difference makes the instance of downloading seem as though two different things will happen when, in fact, it is the same program being launched.
* Harnesses symbols from known North American signage associated with caution / warning / etc. Is this what is to be implied or something more akin to "Take Notice" or "Important"? Further still, it uses a second visual cue via colour representation to push this association along.
Possible Fixes:
* Harness the base shape of the default update icon in a different fashion.
* Associate different sub-symbols within the icon to distinguish between the two different 'classes' of action versus the appearance of two entirely different functions.
* Avoid known associative culture centric symbols that imply different meanings, especially when associated with common lore colour systems.
Thank you for your suggestion. However, the changes you are requesting aren't really a bug and require more discussion, which should be done on an appropriate mailing list or forum. http:// www.ubuntu. com/support/ community/ mailinglists ( http:// lists.ubuntu. com/mailman/ listinfo/ ubuntu- art ? ) might be a good start for determining which mailing list to use.
