As you requested by mail, I attach the contents of /var/dist-upgrade.
For your information I finished the upgrade by opening a root terminal, deinstalling some packages (firefox 3 prerelease & audacity) then issued dist-upgrade by hand.

There's no evidence of what failed in you log files. Furthermore, you reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Hello. Actually, after the first update of Ubuntu since that error, I
haven't received it again. Whatever it was, it was fixed by the initial
update.
