Bug Description
Binary package hint: update-manager
After upgrading from Ubuntu 7.10 -> 8.04 via "update-manager -d" the update-manager applet refused to check for new updates.
Hovering the mouse over the applet showed a tooltip which contained an error message saying that it couldn't access the file /etc/apt/
The respective file had permission 660 instead of 644 like the others in that directory.
After changing its permissions to 644 everything works fine.
