Binary package hint: update-manager
Description of the problem:
When clicking on the Changes/Description tabs or the text area beneath for the first time a BIOS beep will occur.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start update-manager .
2. If it is not open, click on "Description of update" arrow to open up the bottom area.
3. Click on the Changes tab.
Expected result:
Tab focus to move to Description button.
Actual result:
Tab focus does not move and a BIOS beep (on my system the BIOS beep is not played through the soundcard) occurs.
How reproducible is this problem?
It is reproducible every time.
Additional information:
You may need have some updates to do before this problem can be reproduced.
Version information:
Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
update-manager 1:0.87.16
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu better. I can confirm the beep in update-manager on Hardy, using the steps you provided above. However, the tab focus changes correctly for me, so that might be a separate issue.
The beep only occurs the first time I change tab focus. Subsequent changes of tab focus result in no more beeps, until I close and then re-open update-manager.
Note that you can disable system beeps in Hardy by going to System -> Preferences -> Sound and selecting the 'System Beep' tab.
