Bug Description

Binary package hint: adept

I attempted to upgrade from Gutsy to Hardy using sudo adept_manager --dist-upgrade-devel.

I have my locale set to fr_CA.UTF-8. After the computing of the upgrade, the program crash without any notice. Inspecting the /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log file, it appears to be a UnicodeDecodeError (plus a problem with apport).

This leaves the sources.list file pointing to Hardy.

I'm attaching the main.log file.

To work around this, I tried running with LANG=C LC_ALL=C, but it didn't change anything. For weird reasons, the UI spawned by 'Version Upgrade' still appears in French.

Would actually be update-manager-kde that is throwing the exception.
