Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

upgrade from Xubuntu Dapper 6.6

from terminal ran sudo update-manager -d
at some point, the screen went blue (not the desktop wallpaper) and I had a mouse pointer
was able to [ctrl]+[alt]+[F1]
was able to access log files and FTP them to another computer on my home network

ran three commands from tty1 to recover system and complete upgrade:

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get -f install
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

in that order

as a side note, there appears to be an issue with the tty post-reboot
Upon reboot, the desktop is available, but [ctrl]+[alt]+[F1] (or 2-6) will not bring up a tty

What theme did you use during the ugprade?

I didnt select any theme, as I was not prompted to (at least, not that I
saw)
So what ever theme is selected by default in a stock xubuntu dapper install
is what I have

- is it possible that python-gmenu was installed by hand (by the local admin, using python setup.py ...) ?
- could you attach the output of sudo PYCENTRAL=debug apt-get dist-upgrade ?
