Hi,
crashed after information that the packege index is broken and that it is needed to repair it from console via apt-get.

thanks for reporting this bug. Could you give us a little more information to find the source of the problem. For example could you be more specific about the steps leading to the crash. Was this a regular update or an upgrade from say gutsy to hardy? Also, if you are still able to replicate the problem could you give us the exact text of the error message and attach the log files found in /var/log/dist-upgrade
