# /usr/lib/ubuntu-release-upgrader/release-upgrade-motd
# /usr/bin/hwe-support-status

You have packages from the Hardware Enablement Stack (HWE) installed that
are going out of support on 2025-04-30.

To upgrade to a supported (or longer-supported) configuration:

* Upgrade from Ubuntu 18.04 LTS to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS by running:
sudo do-release-upgrade -p

OR

* Switch to the current security-supported stack by running:
sudo apt-get install

and reboot your system.

EXPECTED

There shouldn't be an advice to install hwe of 18.04 being on 20.04.

"sudo apt-get install" and "sudo do-release-upgrade -p" do nothing and they don't change the message.

Yes: Seems to be a problem with `/usr/bin/hwe-support-status`.

If I run it by itself, it shows what OP stated. And of course also shows after login/motd.

I have many other machines I have upgraded 18>20 and never run across this problem.

Machine seems fine other than that.

Just did a do-release-upgrade (successfully) on *same machine* previously ^ posted. (From 20 to 22)
This is the only Ubuntu server I admin that does this.
I am not sure what is different about it?
Has anyone had any luck determining what it exactly might be? Other than annoying..
