Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

apt.log (36407), main.log (28487), main_pre_req.log(1375) and
term.log(323758) are available, but I don't know how to send them to you
on Linux. Sorry about that -- could you please tell me how? Luther

Error during update
A problem occurred during the update. This is usually some sort of network problem, please check your network connection and retry.
Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/gutsy/Release Unable to find expected entry main'./binary-i386/Packages in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?)
